James H. "Jimmy" Cartee, Jr.
Tybee Island- James H. "Jimmy" Cartee, Jr., passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Hospice Savannah, Inc. surrounded by his loved ones. He was born November 19, 1950 to James H. Cartee, Sr. and Annie Croft Cartee. Jimmy was a graduate of Groves High School and later worked as a Maintenance Planner with Georgia Pacific. He was a member of the St. Patrick's Parade Committee and a long time Tybee Island resident. His parents preceded him in death.
Survivors include his son, Brian Cartee Julie; daughter, Julie Yearwood Shane; constant companion, Ruby Paul; grandchildren, Marshall Meyers, Marissa Meyers, Megan McCarthy and Sean McCarthy; brothers, Phillip Celland, Kenneth Cartee, Douglas Cartee, and numerous other relatives.
Jimmy was passionate, strong, fun loving, and larger than life. He worked hard for his family as they were growing up. To them he was the bravest, wisest, and unselfish person. They will all miss him dearly.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested the remembrances be sent to Tybee Marine Rescue Squadron, P.O. Box 177, Tybee Island, GA 31328.
